Big events during July, 2015 include...

Artown - Wednesday through Saturday, July 1 - August 1, 2015. Reno becomes Artown during all of July. Artown 2015 is the 20th anniversary of this multi-faceted event, bringing Reno residents and visitors a month's worth of music, art, dance and other cultural experiences. There are nearly 500 individual events, exhibits and workshops, with over 70% of the events and performances free.

4th of July Fireworks and Celebrations - Saturday, July 4, 2015. Get out and enjoy an Independence Day weekend at any of numerous fireworks shows and other 4th of July activities in Reno, Sparks, Virginia City, and up at Lake Tahoe.

Biggest Little City Wingfest - Friday through Sunday, July 3 - 5, 2015. Downtown Reno will host the 3rd Annual Biggest Little City Wing Fest. This event brings over 65,000 attendees and serves over 20,000 pounds of chicken wings each year. This year's event will feature three days of finger lickin' chicken wings, live entertainment on outdoor stages, street faire vendors, a VIP Hen House and local celebrity wing judges. Friday and Saturday from 12 noon to 8 p.m. Sunday from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

Reno Aces Baseball - Saturday, July 4, 2015. The Reno Aces' first home game in July is on Independence Day vs. the Sacramento River Cats. Enjoy a great 4th of July fireworks show after this game. There will be 19 more home games during the month. Other opponents will include the Tacoma Rainiers, Albuquerque Isotopes, Las Vegas 51s, and Fresno Grizzlies.

Guided Walking Tours from HRPS - Tuesday, July 7, 2015. The first guided walking tour in July from the Historic Reno Preservation Society will be Historic Cemeteries. Several more walks are scheduled for Tuesdays and Saturdays in July, plus a couple of Sunday tours on July 5 and July 26. Join in to learn about many aspects of Reno's colorful history.

PTSD Discussion Group Meetings - Wednesdays, July 8 and 22, 2015, 6 p.m. VFW Post 9211 is sponsoring a PTSD discussion group that meets at the historic "Battle Born" bunker post every 2nd and 4th Wednesday. All individuals with a diagnosis of PTSD are invited to join this group. This is NOT restricted to veterans or VFW members. Any member of the community is invited, including civilians and service persons such police, firefighters, and medical personnel including EMT's and paramedics. This discussion group IS NOT formal therapy and is based on the original model of gatherings of Vietnam veterans before PTSD was recognized as a treatable condition by the VA or civilian medical community. VFW Post 9211 is located a block west of the Virginia Street / Moana lane intersection, adjacent to the baseball fields. The Post number is (775) 825-7007. Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival - Friday, July 10, 2015. The 2015 Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival runs from July 10 through August 23. This 43rd season of the Festival offers a special treat by featuring two main plays in addition to all of the other shows and activities making up this exceptional event at Sand Harbor on the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Circus Circus 24-Hour Mural Marathon - Friday and Saturday, July 10 - 11, 2015. Watch art in action at this unique competition. In just 24 hours, seven artists will create wall-sized murals on the exterior walls of Circus Circus in downtown Reno. Virginia Street will be closed for the event from 5th to 6th street. There will be music, food and art vendors. This event is not just a competition but a show for audiences of all ages. Competition begins at 10 a.m. on July 10 and goes through the night, ending at 10 a.m. July 11.

15th Annual Art Paws - Sunday, July 12, 2015. Art Paws is the only Artown event specially for pets and their people. The event is free, featuring animal activities like agility courses, paw painting and dress up your doggie contests. More than 80 artists, crafters and animal related vendors and non-profit animal organizations will be present. Silent auctions, raffle prizes, live music, and a beer garden for the humans. All proceeds go to 3 local animal charity groups. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at McKinley Arts and Culture Center, 925 Riverside Drive in Reno.

Washoe County Library Booksale - Friday through Sunday, July 10 - 19, 2015. Read Again Bookstore, a function of Friends of Washoe County Library, holds several book sales during the year. Sales are in the book store next door to the Sierra View Library in the Reno Town Mall. Preview day for Friends members is on the first Friday of each sale period, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you aren't a member, you can join Friends at the door. The sale is open to all every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

American Century Championship - Tuesday through Sunday, July 14 - 19, 2015. The 26th annual American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament will be at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course near South Lake Tahoe and Stateline. see more than 80 entertainment and sports celebrities, including Aaron Rodgers, Charles Barkley, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Steve Kerr, Roger Clemens, Bode Miller, Larry the Cable Guy, Willie Robertson of "Duck Dynasty," Kevin Nealon and Anthony Anderson. Discount tickets available at Raley's, Bel-Air, and Nob Hill stores. The event benefits theStowers Institute for Medical Research.

Hands ON! Second Saturdays - Saturday, July 11, 2015. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for a day of fun family activities and free admission for all. The theme on this Second Saturday is "Artown Celebration." Enjoy free admission and activities at the Museum. Participate in hands-on art projects and storytelling. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Reno Wine Walk - Saturday, July 18, 2015. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Visit any of the participating merchants with $20 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area. This is a 21+ event. Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255).

Superhero Crawl - Saturday, July 18, 2015. Each year, thousands of people converge on Reno's downtown dressed as their favorite superheros, villains, made up characters or whatever cool costume they want. The party is from 8 p.m. until sunrise, with over 20 participating bars, restaurants and clubs. The Eldorado and Sands Regency have room specials should you want a place to crash and not worry about driving home. It's only $5 for a crawl cup, which you can get the day of or purchase online in advance.

Arch Rivals Superhero Run - Saturday, July 18, 2015. This family-friendly event is a 5K fun run starting in Wingfield Park at 9 a.m. Be whatever superhero or super villan you want to be. There will be costume contests, prizes, and other goodies for participants. You can register online or the day of the event. Runners 21 and over get a free cup for the Superhero Crawl that evening.

Night in the Country Music Festival - Thursday through Saturday, July 23 - 25, 2015. Nevada's longest running country music festival is held in Yerington. This year, the festival will bring in its biggest-name artists ever with Jake Owen and The Band Perry slated to headline Saturday and Friday night, respectively. The two will be joined by openers such as Joe Nichols, Parmalee and Old Dominion, among others. The main stage will also feature five acts each night. There is on-site camping and lots of partying at the Full Moon Saloon.

Monthly Reno Beer Crawl - Saturday, July 25, 2015. This event is in downtown Reno where all of the participating bars, pubs, and restaurants are within walking (or crawling) distance. It costs $5 to participate and you can just show up at one of the start bars - advance tickets not required. Crawling is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

ART & Nature at the May Arboretum - Sunday, July 26, 2015. Join the May Arboretum Society for a morning of Art at the Arboretum celebrating the union of ART & Nature. Experience the creative process at work while you meander through the gardens observing and speaking with artists at work. Painters, weavers, poetry readings, live acoustic musicians, artist-lead somatic movement and much more. Purchase a piece of art, take part in the silent auction featuring works of art by participating artists, or just enjoy the shady oak grove, peaceful waterfall and beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees that make the Arboretum so special. Refreshments will be available for purchase. This is a free Artown event, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Nevada Fair in Carson City - Thursday through Sunday, July 30 - August 2, 2015. The Nevada Fair is a 4 day event featuring agriculture, carnival, evening entertainment and community showcase. There will be a 4H/FFA livestock show with an auction and small animal show, dairy cow and dairy goat show, horse show and numerous other events including sewing, baking and crafts. Admission is free to the event at the Carson City Fairgrounds in Fuji Park. The address is 601 Old Clear Creek Road, which is just west of U.S. 395 and just south of the U.S. 50 West interchange.

Hot August Nights Kickoff in Virginia City - Friday and Saturday, July 31 and August 1, 2015. The kickoff Hot August Nights event is now in Virginia City, with nightly cruises, a celebrity Show-n-Shine, poker run and free live entertainment. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
