Chinese New Year - The Year of the Rabbit ends on February 1, 2023. This celebration is also known as the Chinese Spring Festival.

"Expedition: Dinosaur" at the Wilbur D. May Museum - January 14 through April 30, 2023. An interactive exhibit at the Wilbur D. May Museum at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno. This exhibit will feature 11 animatronic dinosaurs, interactive excavation stations, and a fossil stamp scavenger hunt. Special group rates are available. This will be an exhibit of Jurassic proportions. The entry fee is $10 for adults, $9 for children 3 to 17 and seniors. Kids under 3 are free. Hours at the Wilbur D. May Museum are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Groundhog Day - On Thursday, February 2, 2023, Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow, or not. Depending on which way it goes, Phil's 100% accurate powers of prediction will indicate an early spring or six more weeks of winter.

Science Distilled: Story of Water, Part 1 - Thursday, February 2, 2023, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. In the Spring of 2022, a group of DRI scientists traveled to Greenland with the intent of extracting 4,000-year-old ice cores which tell the story of climate, volcanoes, and human activity. The arduous journey and even more arduous task of drilling and extracting ice cores isn’t without risk or danger. Join us to dive into their research, their journey to Greenland, and to hear the stories they found embedded in the ice. Presented by DRI and The Discovery Museum. Downtown Reno Library, 301 S. Come in from the Cold Family Entertainment Series - Saturdays, February 4, 11, 18, 25, 2023. "Come in from the Cold" is held on Saturday evenings in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. These family-friendly shows provide welcome relief from the frosty weather during the depths of winter. The 2023 series is in January, February, and March. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with performances starting at 7 p.m. Seating is limited to 200, so arriving early at this popular event is a good idea.

82nd (2023) Regular Session of the Nevada Legislature - February 6 through June 5, 2023. The Nevada Legislature meets in Carson City every other year (biennial) for 120 consecutive days.

Free Classes about Gardening in Nevada - Bartley Ranch Series - Beginning on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 and continuing every Tuesday through March 28. Learn from experts about growing a vegetable garden and other plants in northern Nevada. At Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Student Outreach Clinics from UNR - Women's Clinic - Saturday, February 11, 2023, 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The Women's Clinic provides medical care aimed specifically at female concerns. This includes services such as Pap smears, breast exams, STD counseling, pregnancy tests, IUD placements, and physical exams for both gynecological and non-gynecological concerns. Second Saturdays at the Nevada Museum of Art - Saturday, February 11, 2023. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for fun for the whole family, including storytelling, art activities, live performances, and all current exhibits. The theme for this Saturday is Play With Clay. Admission to the Museum is free for all on Second Saturdays.

Free history presentations from Historic Reno Preservation Society - Sunday, February 12, 2023, 12 noon. "The Life and Works of Frederic J. DeLongchamps." This video program by Anne Simone and ZoAnn Campana highlights the work of Frederic J. DeLongchamps, who had a long career as an architect in Reno and the surrounding area. He designed seven county courthouses, six of which are still in use. At the Downtown Reno Library, 301 S. Center Street.

Super Bowl LVII (57) Parties - Super Bowl Sunday 2023 is on Sunday, February 12. It will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ. There are lots of big parties in the Reno area where you can enjoy food, drink, and cheer for your favorite team with lots of other fans. The half-time show will be headlined by Rihanna.

Valentine's Day Dining and Activities - Tuesday, February 14, 2023. There are romantic Valentine's Day dining opportunities available, along with other fun things to with your sweetheart.

"Social Science: Wizards & Snitches" at The Discovery - Saturday, February 18, 2023, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Now boarding at Platform 9 3/4 for your opportunity to explore the science of witchcraft and wizardry. Take on the Whomping Willow, play Quidditch Remixed, create your own personal wand, explore the potion lab, flex your knowledge in the Potter trivia challenge, and so much more. For ages 21+. You can purchase tickets online or at the door (which is more expensive). Ticket price includes two drinks and complimentary tasty bites. Advance ticket purchase recommended as this event has limited capacity and frequently sells out. The Discovery Museum is at 490 S. Center Street in Reno.

Student Outreach Clinics from UNR - Geriatric and Dermatology Clinic - Saturday, February 18, 2023, 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The Geriatric Clinic provides services and care to the elderly population. The Dermatology Clinic provides quality care and medical service to patients with any problems related to the skin. Clinics are by appointment only. February Junior Naturalist Program from Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation - Saturday, February 18, 2023, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This month, we'll be at Woodtrail Park and themed "Signs of Wildlife." Get ready to explore how to track and identify wildlife. The program is free, but you must register to attend.

President's Day - Monday, February 20, 2023. Schools, libraries and government offices will be closed.

Student Outreach Clinics from UNR - General and Pediatrics Clinic - Tuesday, February 21, 2023, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The General and Pediatrics Clinic provides services for adults including screenings and diagnosis, lab services, x-rays, EKGs, blood pressure monitoring, some treatments and referrals. Services for patients age 18 and younger include Head Start physicals, sick child visits, well child checks and nutrition counseling. Clinics are by appointment only. Ice Skating at the Grand Sierra Resort - season ends on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Ice skating is also available at the Jennifer M. O'Neal Community Ice Arena is south Reno.

North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST! - March 2 - 12, 2023. SNOWFEST is a ten day winter festival supporting local non profits, public programs, student organizations, and educational scholarships. Just a few of the events include the Tap Haus Block Party, SnowFest Fireworks, Polar Bear Swim, Tahoe City Dog Pull, Milk Jug Curling and Wine N Ice Competition. Located in Tahoe City and King's Beach.
