Groundhog Day - On Sunday, February 2, 2020, Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow, or not. Depending on which way it goes, Phil's 100% accurate powers of prediction will indicate an early spring or six more weeks of winter.

Super Bowl LIV (54) Parties - Super Bowl Sunday 2020 is on February 2. It will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. There are lots of big parties in the Reno area where you can enjoy food, drink, and cheer for your favorite team with lots of other fans. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will be the featured performers during the halftime show.

Come in from the Cold Family Entertainment Series - Saturdays, February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2020. "Come in from the Cold" is held on Saturday evenings in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. The 2020 series is in January, February, and March. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with performances starting at 7 p.m. Seating is limited to 200, so arriving early at this popular event is a good idea.

Lincoln Highway 101 — The First Transcontinental Highway Across America - Sunday, February 2, 2020, 12:30 p.m. Learn about Reno and Nevada history. This free program is brought to you by the Historic Reno Preservation Society. It is one of a series, with others scheduled during the coming months. At Downtown Reno Library, 301 S. Center Street.

Student Outreach Clinics from UNR - Tuesday, February 4, 2020, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. General and pediatrics clinics. General Clinic provides general medical care, including complete physical exams and nutrition counseling. Physical exams are done to help determine illness, but can also be done for school, work, or sports participation. Services offered at these free clinics include: screenings, diagnosis, lab services, x-rays, EKGs, blood pressure monitoring, some treatments and referrals. The Pediatric Clinic provides medical care for pediatric patients from newborns to teenagers. It includes free immunizations to patients who are 18-years-old and younger, Head Start physicals, sick child visits, well child checks and nutrition counseling. All clinics are held at the Family Medicine Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, located at the corner of 17th St. and East Stadium Way, northeast of Mackay Stadium. (775) 682-8646.

Cabin Fever for Kids Ages 4 to 6 - Tuesdays, through February 25, 2020, 10 a.m. Join us to learn about nature in the winter. Each session will feature a short lesson, a story, an indoor activity, and a guided outdoor exploration in the May Arboretum. At the Wilbur D. "Social Science: Face Your Fears" at The Discovery - Saturday, February 8, 2020, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Face your fears and tackle your phobias head-on during an evening of some of the scariest science. Whether your fear is clowns, bugs, electric shock, needles, or just the fear of fear itself, prepare to explore the science of scary. For ages 21+. You can purchase tickets online or at the door. Ticket price includes two drinks and complimentary hors d'oeuvres. The Discovery Museum is at 490 S. Center Street in Reno.

Free Classes about Gardening in Nevada - Bartley Ranch Series - Beginning on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 and continuing every Tuesday through March 31. Learn from experts about growing a vegetable garden and other plants in northern Nevada. All classes will be at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. The first class it titled "Selecting and Caring for Fruit Trees." 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Little Sprouts for Kids Ages 2 to 5 - Wednesdays, through February 26, 2020 and Thursday, February 27, 2020, 10 a.m. Little Sprouts is for families to learn about nature through parent-child experiences at the May Arboretum. Discover Science Lecture Series at UNR - Thursday, February 6, 2020, 7 p.m. This free lecture is by Dr. William Tate and is about his research into understanding the distal and social factors that predict STEM doctoral degree attainment. In the Redfield Auditorium in the Davidson Mathematics and Science Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.

Hands ON! Second Saturdays - Saturday, February 8, 2020, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for a day of fun family activities and free admission for all. Enjoy hands-on art activities, storytelling, a docent-guided tour, live performances, and community collaborations.

Reno Onesie Crawl - Saturday, February 8, 2020. Experience the freedom of partying in your jammies at the Reno Onesie Crawl. It starts and 8 p.m. and lasts way past your normal bedtime. Science Saturdays at the National Automobile Museum - Saturday, February 8, 2020. Join in on an adventure that is out of this world - "Engineering Spacecraft." "Mystery Science Theater 3000 Live: The Great Cheesy Movie Circus Tour" at the Pioneer Center - Monday, February 10, 2020. This show at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. Join show creator and original host, Joel Hodgson, and the world's greatest - and only - movie-riffing robots, Tom Servo, Crow, and Gypsy, as they take you on an exhilarating roller coaster ride through some of the cheesiest films ever made. "Jimmy Buffett's Escape to Margaritaville" at the Pioneer Center - Friday through Sunday, February 14 - 16, 2020. This show at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. "The Animation Academy" at the Wilbur D. May Museum - February 15 through May 10, 2020. Take a behind-the-scenes look into the making of your favorite animated shows and movies. This fun and interactive exhibition explores the history of animation, from traditional hand drawn cel to computer. Read the stories of real-life animators, see tools of the trade, watch classic cartoons, and try your own hand at animating. This entertaining and educational exhibit will be at the Wilbur D. Reno Wine Walk - Saturday, February 15, 2020. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Visit any of the participating merchants with $20 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area. This is a 21+ event. Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255).

Reno-Tahoe Senior Winter Games - The Games are open to citizens 50+ and will be held at various places around the area from January 28 through February 14, 2020.

Student Outreach Clinics from UNR - Saturday, February 15, 2020, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The Women's Clinic provides medical care aimed specifically at female concerns. This includes services such as Pap smears, breast exams, STD counseling, pregnancy tests, and physical exams for both gynecological and non-gynecological concerns. Pregnancy care is not offered at this time. It is free to be seen at the clinics, but certain referrals may not be covered and the cost is the patients' responsibility. Donations are gladly accepted, with the traditional donation being $5. All clinics are held at the Family Medicine Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, located at the corner of 17th St. and East Stadium Way, northeast of Mackay Stadium. (775) 682-8646.

Wild Winter Weekends at Animal Ark - Saturday and Sunday, February 15 - 16, 2020. Come enjoy Animal Ark's residents in a winter setting, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Adults are $16, seniors $15, children $13, 2 and under free. Animal Ark is at 1265 Deerlodge Road north of Reno. Take 395 / I580 north to Red Rock. Go right for 11.5 miles, then right on Deerlodge. 1-775-970-3111 (Must dial 1-775 even from Reno area). Please call on event day as severe weather may cancel festivities.

Topics include yoga, nutrition, taxes, living trusts, investing, medicare, dementia/Alzheimer, real estate in probate, staging, estate sales, de-cluttering, stretching for balance, in-home care, senior living communities, Veterans benefits and much more. At Sierra View Library in the Reno Town Mall, across from the Reno Sparks Convention Center.

Classix Series - Landscapes & Legends of Mexico - Saturday and Sunday, February 22 and 23, 2020. This Reno Philharmonic performance at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts in Reno will feature works by the acclaimed symphonic photo-choreography company Westwater Arts and Nicholas Bardonnay. The Reno Phil brings you "Magico" – a collaboration of live symphonic music with stunning photography that weaves together a vibrant tapestry of the landscapes and people of Mexico. Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., Sunday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.. Tickets are available online.

2020 Nevada Democratic Caucus - Saturday, February 22, 2020, beginning at 10 a.m. The Nevada Democratic Caucus is where voters get to make their choice for the Democratic presidential nominee in 2020. We are the third state in the nation where voters get to directly participate in the nominating process. Monthly Reno Beer Crawl - Saturday, February 22, 2020. This event is in downtown Reno where all of the participating bars, pubs, and restaurants are within walking (or crawling) distance. It costs $5 to participate and you can just show up at one of the start bars - advance tickets not required. Crawling is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

SnowFest! - February 28 - March 8, 2020. SnowFest is a multi-day winter carnival based in the north Lake Tahoe area and celebrating life in the High Sierra, with events and activities for all ages. Participate in special events, parades, races, parties, concerts, theater and plenty of wining and dining. Snow events will be at Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Homewood, Diamond Peak, and Northstar California.

Leap Year Day - Saturday, February 29, 2020. This is Leap Year and this is the extra day observed once every 4 years.

Reno 1868 FC Soccer - Saturday, February 29, 2020, 12 noon. Reno's professional soccer team plays at Greater Nevada Field against the San Diego Loyal. The next home game is on March 14 vs. OKC Energy FC.
