Come in from the Cold Family Entertainment Series - Saturdays, March 2, 9, 2024. "Come in from the Cold" is held on Saturday evenings in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. These family-friendly shows provide welcome relief from the frosty weather during the depths of winter. The 2024 series is in January, February, and March. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with performances starting at 7 p.m. Seating is limited to 200, so arriving early at this popular event is a good idea.

Free Classes about Gardening in Nevada: The Bartley Ranch Series - Tuesdays, March 5, 12, 19, 26, 2024. Learn from experts about growing a vegetable garden and other plants in northern Nevada. At Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Hands ON! Second Saturday at the Nevada Museum of Art - Saturday, March 9, 2024. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for fun for the whole family, including storytelling, art activities, live performances, and all current exhibits. The theme this month is "Layering the Landscape." Admission to the Museum is free for all on Second Saturdays.

North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST! - through March 10, 2024. SNOWFEST is a ten day winter festival supporting local non profits, public programs, student organizations, and educational scholarships. Just a few of the events include the Tap Haus Block Party, SnowFest Fireworks, Polar Bear Swim, Tahoe City Dog Pull, Milk Jug Curling, SnowFest Parade, Wine N Ice Sculpture Competition and lots more. Located in Tahoe City and King's Beach.

Daylight Saving Time Begins - Sunday, March 10, 2024. Set your clocks forward at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning. If you don't plan on being awake then, do it before going to bed on Saturday night.

Reno Leprechaun Crawl - Saturday, March 16, 2024, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. The event draws people from all over the country and beyond, making it one of the largest bar crawls in the world. 20 different participating downtown bars, nightclubs and restaurants, all in walking distance and no cover charges. Lots of beer and drink specials and giveaways. The start location is the Silver Baron Ballroom inside the Silver Legacy Resort Casino. Visit the website for information about pre-purchasing cups, a list of participating venues, and specials on crawl night lodging.

Annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry - Saturday, March 16, 2024, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Go up to Virginia City for this popular event. Cooks from around the west fry, smoke or grill these delectable concoctions in a way that will make you forget what you're really eating. Dress to impress in your most festive or outlandish St. Patty's Day garb. The Ball Breaker Saloon Crawl is part of the festivities, along with a St. Patrick's Day Parade starting at 12 noon.

"Botanical Buddies" Junior Naturalist Program from Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation - Saturday, March 16, 2024, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join us at Hidden Valley Regional Park to explore botany and mycology with fun games and activities. It's free, but registration is required to attend

Junior Ranger Adventure Day at Davis Creek Regional Park - Saturday, March 16, 2024, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Join Park Rangers to learn about campfire safety, how to be bear aware, and do some nature journaling. Event is free but pre-registration is required. Contact Ranger Nick at nsteuer@washoecounty.gov or 775-849-0684 for more information. Davis Creek Regional Park is south of Reno in Washoe Valley.

St. Patrick's Day Wine Walk - Saturday, March 16, 2024, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Visit any of the participating start locations with $30 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area. You can also purchase tickets online. This is a 21+ event. Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255).

Annual Leprechaun Race 5K Run / Walk - Sunday, March 17, 2024, 8:30 a.m. The race runs through the Midtown and Wells Avenue districts. It is family friendly. This is a great first 5K for new runners. Costumes are encouraged. You race against a leprechaun and if your time is faster than hers, then you will earn a special prize. For every runner and walker who the leprechaun beats, the leprechaun's pot of gold will grow in size as a benefit for the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum. Online registration is available.

First Day of Spring - Spring begins with the Equinox on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

24 Hour Play Festival from Reno Little Theater - March 22 - 23, 2024, 7:30 p.m. This is an exciting experience is unlike anything happening in the Reno theatre scene this year. The 24-Hour Plays: Reno is a play festival where four 10-minute plays will be written, rehearsed, and performed all within 24 hours. Visit the website for details. Reno Little Theater is at 147 E. Pueblo Street in Reno.

The Passion according to St. Matthew by J. S. Bach - Musicians and Choral Soloists of the Toccata-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will perform selections from Part II of Bach's Masterpiece, 'The Passion According to St Matthew.' Tickets are sold online for each performance.

Reno Expo 2024 - March 22 - 24, 2024. This big event is actually 5 shows for one ticket. All will run simultaneously at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, 4590 S. Virginia Street in Reno. Admission is only $15 for all five shows, $8 for seniors and free for kids under 12. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Washoe County Schools Spring Break - March 25 to April 5, 2024. Check out all of the cool spring break camps and other fun activities happening during this break in the school action. There are lots of choices, so check it out and sign up early for the best selection of activities and camps.

Reno Women's March - Saturday, March 30, 2024, gather at 10:30 a.m., march at 11 a.m. Join us for the annual Reno Women's March. The March starts at the Bruce R. Thompson Courthouse and Federal Building and goes to Believe Plaza next to the Truckee River.

Free Easter Egg Hunts - Saturday and Sunday, March 30 - 31, 2024. There are several free Easter Egg hunts around Reno and up at Lake Tahoe on this Easter weekend. Some of these are big productions. Check out my list to find one near you.

Easter Brunch and Dining - Sunday, March 31, 2024. You don't have to cook up a big meal on this holiday. Enjoy Easter Sunday brunch or dinner at any of several venues around the Reno / Sparks area.

"Expedition Dinosaur: Rise of the Mammals" at the Wilbur D. May Museum - through May 5, 2024. An interactive exhibit at the Wilbur D. May Museum at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno. Featuring fan favorite stations and brand new animatronics and experiences, this exhibit is not to be missed and makes for the perfect field trip or way to spend a winter day. The entry fee is $13 for adults, $11 for children 3 to 17 and seniors. Kids under 3 are free. Hours at the Wilbur D. May Museum are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
