Offer of Free Retail/Office/Warehouse Space to Non-Profit Organization Reno, NV - Reno Engineering Corporation is offering the free use of 9600 square feet of space in its facility at the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Park east of Reno. How to Keep your Pets Safe on the Trail - November 24, 2009 Reno, NV - If you have pets or just care about their welfare, you will find this 6:00 p.m. presentation interesting and informative regarding how to keep animals safe while on the many beautiful trails surrounding Reno. Nevada Humane Society and TrailSafe are jointly hosting this event in the Humane Society's Education Room at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno, just south of Rock Blvd. Trapping season for furbearers begins December 1, 2009 and for animals deemed "nuisance animals" is year-round. Learn how to protect your pet, while learning more about trapping in Nevada. Trish Swain will give a presentation about safety on the trails. Swain is a founder of TrailSafe, a grassroots Nevada citizen group that advocates protection and humane treatment for pets and wildlife, specifically protection from trap injuries. Nevada Department of Wildlife will give a demonstration on how to safely open a trap – both for you and the trapped animal. The evening will close with an Introduction to Basic Pet First Aid, an American Red Cross sanctioned class conducted by Peggy Rew. Learn how to help an injured animal whether it's yours or one you encounter in distress on a trail. The evening is free and open to the public. Please call 775-856-2000 for more information. Area religious leaders coming together on Thanksgiving - November 24, 2009 Reno, NV - Despite conflicts around the world, various faith traditions in northwestern Nevada will come together to share the spirit of love on Thanksgiving. The 24th Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Eve Service of Northwestern Nevada will be held at Sparks United Methodist Church at 1231 Pyramid Way, Sparks, on November 25, whose theme is "For what do we give thanks?" According to Right Reverend Gene Savoy Jr. and Rajan Zed, President and Director Interfaith Affairs respectively of Nevada Clergy Association, starting at 7:30 pm, this Service will include prayers, blessings, readings, and music from Christian (various denominations), Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Baha'i, and Native American traditions. Choirs from area Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), Trinity Episcopal Church, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, and Sparks United Methodist Church will perform on the occasion, besides a Baha'i musical tribute. A procession of the clergy dressed in an array of religious garb will also be held before the Service. Prominent area religious leaders participating in the Service include Dr. Clair Earl (LDS), Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. (International Community of Christ), Rajan Zed (Hindu), Brother Matthew Cunningham (Roman Catholic), Father George C. Bratiotis (Greek Orthodox), Rabbi Teri Appleby (Jewish), Imam Abdul Rahim Barghouthi (Muslim), Dr. William Bartlett (Buddhist), Roya Galata (Baha'i), Dr. Thomas Butler (United Methodist), Irwin Sharp Fish (Native American). Recycle Phone Books - November 16 - December 31, 2009 Reno, NV - Out with the old and in with the new, the annual AT&T Real Yellow Pages "Project ReDirectory" phone book recycling program kicks off on Monday, November 16 and runs through December 31. Phone books can be recycled at area Scolari's, Sak 'N Save, Waste Management Recycle America and AT&T offices or with curbside recyclables. In addition to the above locations, AT&T and the Arbor Day Foundation will donate trees to area parks when they are recycled at these Reno, Sparks and Washoe County park locations. Seasonal Arts Events at the University of Nevada, Reno - November & December, 2009 Reno, NV - The School of the Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno presents world-class offerings from guest artists and performers, as well as faculty and students within the school's departments of art, dance, music, theatre and visual arts. River Walk Wine Walk - Visit the historic Lake Mansion The Riverwalk Merchant's Association is pleased to bring you Wine Walk on the Riverwalk, the third Saturday of every month from 2 PM - 5 PM. Customers can purchase a MAP and WINE GLASS for $15 and taste over a dozen different wines at merchants throughout the River Walk. VSA Arts of Nevada will also be open to the public during each wine walk for those who are interested in the Lake Mansion, volunteers from HRPS (Historic Reno Preservation Society) will be available for a mini-tour of the historic mansion. |
