You know a city means business when it is immortalized in not just one, but several incredible songs. It might be true that REM are going 'All the Way to Reno', but unfortunately Johnny Cash 'shot a man in Reno' and that's made Bruce Springsteen reconsider his place. Yet, there are two cities that have firmly imprinted themselves on pop-music culture, and those are none other than Los Angeles and Las Vegas. If you are taking a visit to the City of Angels, why not let your ears do the talking? You might not get to stay at the Eagles' 'Hotel California', but with plenty of brilliant Los Angeles hotels (more info) on offer, you'll be sure to find a sight for sore eyes.
Of course where better to start than with a cult hero? Singer-songwriter Elliott Smith wrote prolifically on his love-hate relationship with LA, even naming one song 'Alameda' after Alameda Street. Indeed, L.A's number one export, Hollywood, has been the focus of huge amounts of music, from Madonna's aptly titled 'Hollywood' to Snoop Dogg's debaucherous 'Deez Hollywood Nights.'
Over in Las Vegas, it's not just Elvis whose heart was won. The Cocteau twins wonder what the difference is between 'Heaven or Las Vegas', while Hootie and the Blowfish look back on their 'Las Vegas Nights' fondly. Fortunately, after a night at the tables, your musical adventure doesn't have to end there. Check yourself into the Flamingo Hotel, and you might just get the bed Elvis stayed in when shooting the infamous 'Viva Las Vegas', the film which featured the eponymous song.
