Battle Born Derby Demons Announce 2008 Bout ScheduleReno, NV – Battle Born Derby Demons is a non-profit organization and Northern Nevada's only flat track roller derby team. All of our home bouts are held at the River Rink Plaza in downtown Reno (where the ice skating rink is in the winter). Admission is $10 at the gate. Gate opens at 6pm bout, starts at 7pm. There will be live music, food, a half time show, and a beer garden for 21 and over. Bring the kids and a lawn chair. Hope to see you there. Nevada World Trade Day to discuss interdependence of global economies - May 21, 2008 Reno, NV – Annual World Trade Day (WTD) will be celebrated by Nevada World Trade Council (NEWTRAC), Nevada’s international trade organization, in Reno on May 21. According to Rajan Zed, Member NEWTRAC Board of Directors, the theme of the annual event this year is "Interdependence of Global Economies in the Era of Free Trade Agreements", which will be held at Grand Sierra Resort starting at 11 am. A world-renowned economist, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in USA, Deputy United States Trade Representative, and Nevada's Lieutenant Governor Brian K. Krolicki have been invited to address the WTD participants. Award for "Excellence in International Business" will be given on the occasion, besides scholarships to University of Nevada-Reno students. Cost for participants, which includes lunch, is $55 ($45 for members, and $25 for students), Zed adds. Networking hour during this event will bring policy experts, academics, business leaders, government officials, international trade enthusiasts, and others together. Big Blue Adventure Announces New Tahoe Trail Runs - June 29 & Sept. 21, 2008 Kings Beach, CA - The trails that wind through the mountains of North Lake Tahoe are as renowned for their arduous terrain as they are for inspiring views. The Big Blue Adventure Series, which introduced adventure racing to North Lake Tahoe in 2002, challenges trail runners amongst some of the area's most spectacular trails with two new events June 29 and September 21. The Burton Creek Trail Run (June 29), with ten and 20-mile courses, takes runners over a series of single-track trails through Burton Creek State Park outside Tahoe City. The trails meander through pine forests and high sierra meadows, showcasing a vibrant display of wildflowers. Racers can register through June 28. The Emerald Bay Trail Run (September 21) takes runners through the breathtakingly scenic Emerald Bay, via Emerald Bay and D.L. Bliss State Parks on Lake Tahoe's West Shore. The seven-and-a-half mile run starts at Eagle Point, heads around Emerald Bay and up the Rubicon Trail. The deadline to register is September 20. "These new events are great for North Lake Tahoe" Andy Chapman, tourism director for the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, said. "It's another excellent reason for visitors and locals to get outdoors and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the area while challenging themselves physically. The Big Blue Adventure Series has a solid history of producing fun events with a positive atmosphere while highlighting the beauty and terrain of North Lake Tahoe."
